Just like we tend to judge a book by it's cover, is that what we do with fashion?
I will be the first to admit it....When searching for a novel in the book shop if the cover is appealing, I pick it up and then, only then, will I read the first sentence of the blurb before I move swiftly to the cash register. Do we also do this with fashion? Do we also tend to judge a look by it's cover?
Yes, of course I judge. In no particular order, I judge by style, (and hell I should as I'm going to be wearing the damn thing!!!) label, price tag, material, even the shop I find it in and possibly the customer service I'm getting at the time.
Now the question is, should we as consumers be led to think more deeply about our garment choices? Perhaps on the terms of the designer and what they have gone through in making that dress hanging on the rack that no-one really wants or is fighting over on a waiting list?
Should we be more thoughtful about how much time, preparation, money, feeling, love went into the garment we have chosen to wear in the morning before we go to work or for a 'rendez vous' with the girls.
I know that this phrase is better referred to with people not to pass judgement to quickly on things and to take a much deeper and closer look before they skim the surface but hey, clothing and books don't have feelings or personalities that we can hurt.... or do they?
Should we be thinking a little more deeper, as the metaphorical saying suggests, even about fashion?
We shouldn't judge a Look by it's Cover but I'm sure most of us do so....Call me vain... unfortunately I do determine the worth of something based on its appearance.
I will be the first to admit it....
It's the outside cover that counts when I choose my book and my look.
Do you judge a look by it's cover?
